Coffee is one of the best appetite suppressants out there, so when fasting, it is going to help suppress hunger. It’s exactly what we need to push that first meal later into the day and reap the benefits of fasting. I recommend waiting to have your coffee for at least and hour or two in the morning. This reason being is, you’re going to be using coffee most effectively, when you start to feel hungry.

Slowly sip your coffee throughout the morning. Gulping it down is only going to hinder the appetite suppression, and nobody enjoys feeling wired and shaky from too much caffeine. Also, it helps to limit yourself to 1 to 3 cups per day.

Not only that, using intermittent fasting allows you to push your calories later into the day (as most of our social lives revolve around evenings), giving us the luxury of eating huge and delicious meals, still hitting our calorie deficit at the end of each day and never feeling hungry. It’s a winner all round.

The key to getting the most out of coffee during the fast is to only drink coffee during the fasting window. Drinking coffee after you already broke your fast may reduce your sensitivity to caffeine.

Which simply means you’ll just need more coffee to feel the same effects and that’s defeating the purpose.

So limit your coffee to only when you’re fasting.
